Windows 11 Build 27749 (Canary) improves Narrator, includes several fixes

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Build 27749 to Insiders in the Canary channel. The new build is mostly focused on fixes, but also includes a few improvements made to Narrator. Here are the details.

Windows 11 Build 27749

What's new in Windows 11 Build 27749 (Canary)

Narrator

    • A new keyboard shortcut has been added to Narrator — <narrator key> + ctrl + x. It is designed to copy the last spoken phrase to the clipboard. It works similarly to the  <narrator key> + x shortcut , which repeats the last spoken phrase. This allows you to remember the new combination faster. The new shortcut will be useful in cases where you need to quickly copy content, be it a description or a number.
    • Narrator will now automatically read content in the new Outlook app, just like it did in classic Outlook.

Fixes

File Explorer

    • Fixed an issue where some users may have seen excessive spacing between items in the navigation bar.
    • Fixed an issue where RAW images taken in Portrait mode would unexpectedly receive landscape thumbnails.

Taskbar

    • The taskbar search box will now appear if Auto-hide the taskbar is enabled and the Search box option is selected for Search.

Input

    • Updated the "Indicate pointer location when pressing CTRL" option so that the circles displayed are now resolution-aware and do not appear too small on high-resolution displays.

Narrator

    • Fixed a performance issue with Narrator where it would slow down after 15 minutes of continuous use in a single app. If you continue to experience lag, please report it through Feedback Hub.
    • Fixed an issue where Narrator would add the phrase "contains style" when focus was on text with style attributes (such as bulleted or numbered lists) in apps like Microsoft Edge, Teams, and Outlook.
    • Fixed an issue where some Narrator dialogs did not apply 200% text scaling.

Task Manager

    • Fixed an issue where Task Manager would display zero next to the Applications and Background Processes categories.

Audio

    • Fixed an issue where the volume level on some audio devices would unexpectedly be set to 100% when the system started or resumed from sleep.

Settings

    • Fixed an empty item in Settings > Privacy & Security that would cause the Settings app to crash when clicked.

Other

    • Fixed an issue where Git would not work on Arm-based devices in previous builds.
    • Fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders experiencing a KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION GSOD in the previous flight.
    • Fixed an issue that could prevent a computer from joining a domain.
    • Fixed an issue where DirectAccess would not work and might get stuck in the Connecting state.
