Windows 11 Build 27723 (Canary) has issues with NVIDIA cards

The Windows Insider team has confirmed that on Windows 11 Build 27723 (Canary Channel), devices with older NVIDIA graphics cards like the GTX 970 and Quadro K620 may experience various issues, including black screens, system freezes, and errors in Device Manager.

The updated changelog for the build states the following.

[ADDED 10/10] Some Insiders with PCs that have older NVIDIA GPUs (like the GTX 970, Quadro K620, etc.) are experiencing some issues where their displays appear stuck at a black screen and unresponsive or seeing their GPUs showing errors in Device Manager and not working correctly.

There is no workaround. If you run into this issue, Microsoft recommends rolling back to the previous Windows 11 build.

To do this, you need to boot into the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and remove the problematic build using the built-in troubleshooting tools.

After rolling back, it is recommended to pause updates in Windows Update settings to prevent build 27723 from being installed again.

Microsoft is working to resolve the issue, but there is no timeline for when the fix will be released.

Windows 11 Build 27723 adds the ability to share local files from the Search pane, improves fonts, Voice Access, and more.
