Windows 11 Build 26252 adds several new widgets to the lock screen

Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 26252 to Windows Insider program participants on the Canary channel. This update brings weather, sports, stock market, and traffic widgets to the lock screen. Also, the Start menu supports drag and drop to the taskbar and desktop, the Settings app shows build expiration date, and more.

New features

Lock Screen

This update brings weather, sports, stock market, and traffic widgets to the lock screen. The widgets have also been redesigned with an acrylic effect, optimized block size, improved spacing, and a different font. To enable this feature, go to Settings -> Personalization -> Lock screen.
ℹ️ This feature is gradually coming to Insiders in the Canary channel.

Start menu

You can now pin apps from the Start menu to the taskbar or add shortcuts to your desktop by simply dragging the desired icon to the taskbar or desktop.

Settings

  • From now, you can find the build expiration date on the Settings > System > About page.
  • On PCs with HDR displays, Microsoft now recommends turning off HDR to save power. The recommendation will start appearing under Settings > System > Power & Battery  Energy recommendations.

Fixes

Input

  • Fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders experiencing errors when trying to use Voice Access in certain languages, such as Chinese.
  • Fixed an issue where Pinyin (a system for writing Chinese using Latin letters) was displayed twice in the list of available input methods during the initial setup experience (OOBE).

Task Manager

Fixed an issue where colors in the Performance section were not displayed correctly in the dark theme.

Settings

  • Fixed an issue where some users had icons in Settings → Apps → Startup that were too large to fit in the space allocated to them.
  • Fixed an issue where the warning text for using a slow charger would unexpectedly duplicate under Settings > System > Power.
  • Fixed an issue resulting in the Windows Update page in Settings not displaying correctly for some Insiders when running in certain languages. The update to the build with the fix will download automatically, but you may have to wait a little longer.

Known issues

Microsoft is investigating reports that some Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels are stuck on Build 26040 or 23620. If you want to upgrade to the latest build, you can download the official ISO and perform a clean install to continue receiving new Dev and Canary channel builds.
