Changes and improvements
General
This update includes a small number of improvements and fixes designed to improve the overall experience of the operating system.
Windows Backup
If you enable the Personalization and Other Windows settings options in Settings > Accounts > Windows Backup, Windows will back up your sound settings (including your sound scheme). You can then use the Windows Backup app to restore those settings to your new device.
Settings
- To ensure you don't lose access to your Microsoft account, a new banner will appear in Settings > Accounts with an Add Now button to add a backup email address if you haven't already done so. It will only appear if you are signed in with a Microsoft account.
- There's a new Game Pass recommendation card on the Home page of the Settings app. It will be displayed if you are actively playing games on your PC. Please note that the main page in Settings is only displayed in the Home and Pro editions if you are logged in with a Microsoft account.
- The Fonts entry in the classic Control Panel will now redirect to Settings > Personalization > Fonts. Not all Insiders in the Canary channel will see this change at this time. If you want to use the classic font management interface, you can open the C:\Windows\Fonts system folder. There is also a link to it on the Fonts page in the Settings app.
Fixes
Fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders seeing a dialog with a Pcasvc.dll error and the message “Missing entry: PcaWallpaperAppDetect” after upgrading from Windows 11 version 22H2/23H2 to 26xxx builds.
Known issues
General
[Important note] Microsoft is investigating reports that some Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels are stuck on build 26040 or 23620. If you want to upgrade to the latest build, you can download the official ISO and perform a clean install to continue receiving new builds for the Dev and Canary channels.
Windows Update
[New] Microsoft is investigating reports that some Insiders are experiencing an incorrect Windows Update page in Settings when using the system in some languages. In particular, there may be no text on the page. It is reported that the problem will be fixed automatically, probably with a localization pack update or after changes on the server side.
Task Manager
Working on fix for an issue that causes colors in the Performance section to display incorrectly when using the dark theme.
Voice Access
[New] Working to fix an issue where some Insiders are experiencing errors when trying to use the Voice Access feature in some languages, such as Chinese.
