Windows 11 Build 22635.4435 (Beta) greatly improves Start menu jumplists

Windows 11, version 23H2, Build 22635.4435 is now available to Insiders in the Beta channel with KB5044377. One of its changes is the ability to open as Administrator any of the jump list items. For that, you just need to hold the Ctrl + Shift key sequence when click it.

Note: Some of the new features are first coming to users with the "Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available" option enabled in Settings > Windows Update. They will reach the others a bit later.

Here's the changelog.

Changes for Insiders with the Windows Update option enabled

Changes and improvements

General

If you press and hold Shift + Ctrl and click an item in the Jump List on the Start menu or taskbar, the item will run as an administrator, just as if you had Shift+Ctrl-clicked the application icon. For example, if you right-click Windows Terminal and Shift+Ctrl-click the PowerShell entry, the PowerShell window will open as an administrator.

Dynamic Lighting

  • If compatible devices are not connected, the Dynamic Lighting page in Settings will display placeholder text and the brightness and effects controls will be disabled.
  • The Dynamic Lighting settings page now has direction options for the Wave effect - Forward, Backward, Outward, or Inward. The Gradient effect now has the option to select Forward.

Corrections

Taskbar

  • One more fix was made for the non-working Win + <Number> shortcut.
  • Fixed an issue resulting in the "X" button to close an app window on the taskbar not working for some Insiders.

Input

Fixed an issue where the mouse could become disconnected from the game window on multi-monitor systems after opening and then closing the Game Bar, preventing you from using the mouse in the game.

Changes for all insiders

Changes and improvements

Settings

Microsoft has brought back the ability to customize the Copilot key with a few changes. Now, the key will only be able to launch apps that have given permission to do so. This is to ensure that apps selected to open with the Copilot key know they will be used this way and meet security and privacy requirements. Microsoft will soon publish information for developers on how to opt out of launching an app via the Copilot key.
