Windows 11 Build 22635.4076 (Beta) comes with several fixes

A new release is now available to Insiders running Windows 11 on the Beta channel. KB5041873 raises the OS version to Build 22635.4076, and brings with it a number of fixes. Some of them are only available to those who have enabled the "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" option in Settings > Windows Update. Here are the details.

Windows Studio Effects

Microsoft has temporarily disabled the Windows Studio Effects button in the system tray area of ​​the taskbar that appears when an app uses a camera that supports the feature. The company plans to bring it back in a future build. As a reminder, the change first appeared in build 22635.3930 .

Fixes

  • File Explorer: Fixed an issue where keyboard focus could be lost when selecting an unselected tab item.
  • Voice Access: Fixed an issue where Voice Access commands did not work in languages ​​other than English.
  • Input: Fixed an issue where the emoji panel would close when trying to switch to the Symbols or Kaomoji sections after selecting an emoji.
  • Other: Fixed an issue with Registry Editor where pasting a hexadecimal (HEX) value into a DWORD or QWORD field could cause the stored value to differ from the value entered (for example, 0x411 would be stored instead of 0x1).

Fixes

  • NetAdapterCx module: The system would stop responding when transferring large amounts of data over Wi-Fi. The issue was observed on devices with certain network cards.
  • Windows kernel vulnerable driver blocklist file (DriverSiPolicy.p7b). New drivers at risk of Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attacks have been added to the list.
  • Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC):
    • A memory leak has been detected that may eventually cause the system to run out of memory. The issue occurs during device initialization.
    • WDAC cannot verify the policies of some applications.
  • Group Policy settings for Item Level Targeting (ILT) and Local Users and Groups. You cannot select a group from the target domain for ILT or an account from Local Users and Groups because the forest is not displayed. This issue occurs when multiple forests are deployed and the target domain has a one-way trust with the administrator domain, which affects Enhanced Security Admin Environment (ESAE), Hardened Forests (HF), or Privileged Access Management (PAM).
  • Unable to use Autopilot to set up Surface Laptop SE devices.
  • FrameShutdownDelay The browser did not honor the value specified in the registry key  HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Mainfor the FrameShutdownDelay.
  • Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCPIP) The issue resulted in high CPU usage and packet loss. It also reduced the likelihood of successful TCP connections.
  • Fixed an issue where Cache Manager might stop responding when using Hyperthreading on Windows Server 2022.
  • Printing support applications: When using a USB device, applications may stop responding and fail to print documents. User interface functionality may also be limited.
  • Universal Print clients: Unable to establish a connection to the Universal Print service, impacting printing. This issue occurs when Web Proxy Auto Discovery (WPAD) is enabled.
  • NetJoinLegacyAccountReuse:
  • Windows Backup: In some cases, the backup failed. This happened if the EFI System Partition (ESP) was present on the device.
  • PowerShell and VBScript: Fixed issues with using the Windows Update Agent API (WUA) API address in scripts.

Known issues

  • Taskbar: Working to fix an issue where explorer.exe crashes when closing applications from the taskbar.
  • [New] File Explorer: Working to fix an issue that causes explorer.exe to crash when dealing with archives.
