Microsoft has released Windows 11 (version 23H2) Build 22631.5837 (KB5064080) for Insiders in the Release Preview channel. It comes with several important fixes.
What's new in Windows 11 Build 22631.5837 (KB5064080)
Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA)
- Updated Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles for some mobile operators.
Device Management
- Fixed an issue where the removable storage policy incorrectly blocked external devices such as USB drives and memory cards.
Family Safety
- Fixed an issue where the "Ask for permission" approval prompt would not appear when opening blocked apps. The expected approval prompt now appears when the app's Family Safety settings are enabled.
File Explorer
- Fixed an issue resulting in a small number of Insiders only seeing one folder (such as Desktop) on the Home page in File Explorer.
- Fixed an issue where performance when navigating File Explorer and opening context menus would noticeably degrade as the number of SharePoint sites synced with File Explorer grew. This could also impact file launch performance.
File sharing
- Fixed an issue where accessing files on an SMB (Server Message Block) share via QUIC (Quick UDP Internet Connections) could cause unexpected delays.
File system
- Fixed an issue in ReFS (Resilient File System) where enabling deduplication and compression at the same time could sometimes cause the system to become unresponsive.
Input
- Fixed an issue where some extended Unicode characters, such as rare Chinese characters, were displayed as spaces or incorrect characters in Windows text fields. They are now displayed correctly and comply with the GB18030-2022 standard.
- Fixed an issue with the Chinese (Simplified) Input Method Editor (IME) where some extended characters would display as empty squares.
Narrator
- Fixed an issue where Narrator would incorrectly read the "Enhance face recognition security" checkbox in Face Recognition (Windows Hello) settings.
Network connections
- Fixed an issue where Wi-Fi might not automatically reconnect after refreshing Group Policy.
Remote Desktop
- Fixed an issue where cameras would not appear in remote sessions after being added or removed. Newly connected cameras would not be recognized in Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments.
Windows Backup for Organizations
- Windows Backup for Enterprise is now available, offering seamless transitions across devices with enterprise-grade backup and recovery. Whether you’re upgrading your organization’s fleet of devices, moving to Windows 11, or adopting AI-powered PCs, this solution helps you maintain productivity with minimal disruption, ensuring business continuity and organizational resilience.
