Windows 11 Build 22538 released to the Dev channel

A new build hits the Dev Channel. Windows 11 Build 22538 comes with a pack of good fixes, along with a number of new features. To name a few, there are the weather in the taskbar available to all Insiders. Also, Alt + Tab has got a nice visual refinement, and Voice access now supports the touch keyboard.

Widgets

Instead of the Widgets button, there is now a weather forecast in the leftmost corner of the taskbar. You may have seen this feature in previous builds. Clicking it opens the Widgets pane.

Voice Access

Voice access, a feature that allows managing your PC with your voice, has got a few updates. Starting in today's build, you can use the touch keyboard with voice access.

You can use the touch keyboard with voice access to:

  • Spell words e.g., names and email addresses.
  • Enter numbers e.g., phone numbers and addresses.
  • Enter punctuation marks and symbols.
  • Enter emojis.

Other changes

  • Microsoft has made the focus rectangle follow the accent color in Windows 11 in ALT + TAB, Task view, and Snap assist.Alt Tab Accent Color
  • For a small select group of Insiders, Windows 11 will show the updated IMEs and touch keyboard designs on the Lock screen.Lock Screen IME
  • Microsoft is rolling out the ability for voice typing to download Speech Packs from the Microsoft Store for device-based speech recognition that provides a better performance of transcription.
  • Users can access ncpa.cpl directly again.
  • Hyper-V Generation 2 VMs will now use HTTPS boot by default.
  • For PCs that support it, display calibration is now directly available under Settings > Display > HDR instead of having to open a separate Settings page.
