Windows 11 Beta Build 22631.1835 improves Narrator and networking

Microsoft has released new preview builds of Windows 11 (version 22H2) 22621.1835 and 22631.1835 (KB5027305) to members of the Windows Insider Program on the Beta channel. Build 22631.1835  comes with new features, while its counterpart has those features disabled by default.

Narrator natural voices in Chinese and Spanish

Microsoft adds new natural voices for Chinese and Spanish (Spain and Mexico) that make it easier to surf the web, read, and write email with Narrator. Natural voices use modern technology to convert text to speech. Once the components are downloaded, the feature works offline, i.e. without an Internet connection.

To use one of the natural voices, follow these steps.

  1. Open Narrator preferences by pressing Win + Ctrl + N.
  2. In the "Select Voice" section, click on the "Add" button next to the "Add natural voices" option.
  3. Select the language for which you want to set natural voice. List of available voices will be displayed.
  4. Select the voice you want to install. You can install all available voices, but this will need to be done individually.
    • The new Chinese voices are Microsoft Xiaoxiao and  Microsoft Yunxi.
    • New Spanish voices (Spain) - Microsoft Alvaro and  Microsoft Elvira.
    • New Spanish voices (Mexico) - Microsoft Jorge and  Microsoft Dalia.
  5. To start downloading the selected voice, click on the "Install" button. The new voice will download and be ready to use in a few minutes. The download speed depends on your internet connection.
  6. Once downloaded, select your preferred voice from the Narrator Voice drop-down menu -> Choose a voice.

Changes and improvements in build 22631.1835

In Settings -> Network & Internet -> Cellular, a new switch has been added that allows you to switch to using mobile data if the available Wi-Fi signal is too weak.
