Windows 11 Beta Build 22635.4445 (KB5046745) is now available to Insiders, featuring a small improvement made to File Explorer. Now you can create a new folder right from the navigation pane. You just need to right-click an entry in there, and select New Folder from the context menu.
Note: All changes in this release require you to have the Settings > Windows Update option enabled, otherwise they will not instantly appear once you update to the latest build.
Changes and improvements
File Explorer
- Check out a New Folder option in the context menu when right-clicking locations in the navigation pane.
Fixes
Taskbar
- Fixed several taskbar-related issues that affected explorer.exe stability. In particular, fixed an issue where explorer.exe would occasionally crash when right-clicking applications on the taskbar.
- Fixed an issue where on secondary monitors the text for the Widgets button on the taskbar might overlap the date and time if the taskbar is left-aligned.
File Explorer
- Fixed an issue where in some cases the date and time properties of files were unintentionally updated after they were copied.
- Fixed an issue where icons in the Details pane would not respond correctly to theme changes, making it difficult to tell whether you had switched from dark to light theme or vice versa.
- Fixed a black flash that appeared when duplicating a tab.
- Changes have been made that have increased the speed of context menu launch and improved the speed of navigation in Explorer.
- Fixed an issue where performing a search could cause it to unexpectedly re-start.

Advertisеment
I could already do that, but then I’m using the tweaks for classic File Explorer ribbon as well as full context menus, so maybe this is just another case of MS finally getting around to bring back something that should have never gone away.
