Microsoft has made available Administrative Templates in an XLSX spreadsheet format and ADMX files that align with the Group Policy options in Windows 11 version 24H2. System administrators and IT professionals can use these templates to manage both server and client versions of the "Windows 11 2024 Update" through Active Directory and other deployment services. It is specially useful for those who run Home editions of Windows 11. As you may already know, it doesn't include the Group Policy editor (gpedit.msc). However, the user can set many of its options directly in the Registry. In this case, one can use XLSX files as a reference to appropriate values. You can open them with Excel, part of Microsoft Office.
Administrative templates are a set of operating system settings formatted in a specific AMDX structure. Windows utilizes AMDX files to reference the registry keys and values that need to be modified when a user adjusts a local group policy.
This data is divided into two sections: Computer Configuration and User Configuration, which you see when opening the Local Group Policy Editor. "Computer Configuration" settings apply to all users and usually define OS-specific options, while User Configuration includes policies that are applicable to the current or specified user.
