Windows 11 23H2 Home and Pro support ends in less than a month

Microsoft has reminded that support for Windows 11, version 23H2, in both Home and Pro editions, will officially terminate on November 11, 2025. On this date, Microsoft will release the final monthly security update for these editions. Following this cutoff, the operating system will no longer receive critical security patches, non-security updates, or technical assistance from Microsoft, thereby exposing affected systems to potential cybersecurity threats and compliance risks.

Microsoft strongly advises all users running Windows 11 Home or Pro (version 23H2) to upgrade without delay to a currently supported release, such as the Windows 11 2024 Update (version 24H2) or the more recent Windows 11 2025 Update (version 25H2), which was publicly released on September 10, 2025. Notably, versions 24H2 and 25H2 share an identical core codebase. But the latter is primarily introducing minor refinements, updated drivers, and enhanced compatibility with emerging hardware standards.

Consequently, upgrading directly to version 25H2 is both efficient and strategically move. It is ensuring users benefit from the latest performance optimizations, security enhancements, and feature improvements.

It is essential to clarify that this end-of-support timeline applies exclusively to the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, version 23H2. In contrast, the Enterprise and Education editions will continue to receive support. It includes security updates and servicing. Microsoft will provide them with updates until November 10, 2026, as per extended support lifecycle policy for volume-licensed and institutional deployments.

Organizations running these editions are therefore afforded additional time to plan and execute their migration strategies. Nonetheless, all users are encouraged to maintain up-to-date systems for safety, better support, and compatibility reasons.
