Microsoft reminded users that support for Windows 11 22H2 will end on October 8, 2024. This applies to Windows 11 22H2 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations, which were released on September 20, 2022. The company recommends upgrade to version 23H2.
It is worth noting that Windows 11 21H2 already reached its end of support in June last year. Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise are the only 21H2 versions still receiving updates.
End of support for Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2 also means that out-of-domain devices will be automatically upgraded to 23H2. The latter is scheduled to reach end of support on November 11, 2025.
Microsoft notes that the security update scheduled for October 8 will be the final one for these releases. After that date, devices using these operating system versions will no longer receive monthly security updates or previews with the latest protection against security threats.
Currently, Microsoft is testing Windows 24H2 on Copilot Plus PCs, but Microsoft has not yet added it to the official Windows lifecycle documentation .
In the spring, Microsoft started to show full-screen notifications telling that Windows 10 support would end by the end of 2025. The corporation insisting on switching Windows 11.
