Windows 11 2025 Update (version 25H2) is now available to all users

Microsoft has confirmed the general availability of the Windows 11 2025 Update (version 25H2). This information was published on the " Release Information " page. This means the new version of the operating system is now available to all users on compatible devices.

Tthe Windows 11 2025 Update was released on September 30, 2025, but the update was rolled out in stages. This approach allows the company to monitor for any issues and bugs on a small number of devices to avoid widespread problems. Now, the system has been given the green light for general rollout.

Current status as of October 16, 2025

Starting today, Windows 11, version 25H2, also known as the Windows 11 2025 Update, is available to all eligible Windows 11 devices for users who have turned on the setting Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available. If you have an eligible Windows 10 or Windows 11 device, you can check if the update is available by selecting Settings > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates. If your device is ready for the update, you’ll see the option to Download and install Windows 11, version 25H2.

Please note that devices running Windows 11 Home and Pro editions that aren't managed by IT administrators will receive the Windows 11 25H2 upgrade offer automatically. You can accept it and choose a time to restart your device or defer the update.

What's new in Windows 11 version 25H2

Updating to Windows 11 2025 Update (version 25H2) is currently optional. As said, you must manually confirm installation of the new version on the Windows Update page.

Please note that versions 24H2 and 25H2 are built on the Germanium platform, meaning they share the same codebase. Going forward, both operating system versions will continue to receive the same cumulative updates. You'll also continue to receive new Windows features through monthly updates as part of our continuous innovation strategy.

If the prompt still doesn't appear for you, the update is likely blocked for your device due to compatibility issues. Once Microsoft resolves the issue, the block will be removed and the update will be available for installation.
