Microsoft has issued a new version of the built-in weather app. It now shows the related Forecast news, right in the main window. Also, the button to get the News app in the left sidebar has gone away.
Windows 10 comes with the Weather app which allows the user to get the weather forecast for your current location. It can show average temperatures and record data for your place and around the world. It is a Store (UWP) app developed by Microsoft which uses the MSN service to get accurate 10-day and hourly forecasts.
The app can display the temperature in Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C). See Change Fahrenheit to Celsius in Weather app in Windows 10.
Prior to today's update, the forecast news were hidden behind a dedicated button on the left. Also, there was a promotional button to install the Microsoft News app.
Starting today, the app has got a newer layout. The button has gone, and news now have their own area on the right, always visible to the user.
Unfortunately, there is no option to hide them. Maybe the appropriate option will come in the future, since not everyone needs to see news along with the weather forecast.
The updated app version is 4.43.21842.0
. It is now available in the latest Dev Channel/Fast Ring build of Windows 10.
