Microsoft will soon end support for Windows 10 version 1909, also known as '19H2' and November 2019 Update. Also, the Redmond software giant now offers its users to go directly to version 2004.
After May 11, 2021, the Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations editions of Windows 10 version 1909 and all editions of Windows Server, version 1909 will no longer receive security updates.
Microsoft has already started upgrading devices running Windows 10 version 1909 to Windows 10 version 2004. By upgrading to version 2004, users should get smooth upgrade experience, as the OS is now polished and work reliable.
It is interesting that the latest version of Windows 10 is now version 20H2. In fact, all its features already delivered to version 2004 with cumulative upgrades. The 'upgrade' installs an enablement package that just activates a few new features. This was used for Windows 10 version 1903 and 1909, and now for version 2004 and 20H2. However, 20H2 is not offered yet to 1909 users.
Running an older version of Windows 10 may allow hackers to potentially execute harmful code on your devices via newly discovered yet unpatched security holes. So if you're concerned about your security, don't forget to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10.
In case of Windows 10 version 2004, you will have extra time as all its versions will be supported until December 14, 2021.
