Windows 10 roadmap is available, features a set of new features

Microsoft has published a roadmap for Windows 10. This should help users learn which features are new to Windows 10, which features to expect and which have already been rolled out. The released roadmap document shows a number of new features which are planned for Windows 10. Let's see the details.

  • Recently Available
  • In Public Preview
  • In Development
  • Canceled
  • Archive

The Recently Available feature list contains features already rolled out to regular Windows 10 users. It represents the stable branch of Windows 10 which is at build 10586 as of this writing.

In Public Preview is the list of features available in Insider Preview builds of Windows 10.

In Development is the list of features Insiders will get very soon.
An interesting feature about this part of the Roadmap is the ability to unlock your PC/Tablet device with a paired portable or wearable device like Windows Phone, Microsoft Band or even an Android phone.

Another feature you might be interested in is the ability to use your PC as a Miracast receiver, that is, PC to PC casting. This will bring the Continuum experience to a wide range of devices with a limited basic functionality.

The roadmap also lists the following features under the "In Development" group:

Microsoft's roadmap is for business users to make upgrade decisions, however, the mentioned updates will also come to regular consumers. It is useful to see which improvements and changes Microsoft is planning for Windows 10 in advance. The downside of the published roadmap is that there aren't many details on the actual implementation or how exactly a feature will work.
