If you are following Windows 10 IoT development, you might be happy to hear that a new build 17120 is out for Insiders. This is from the upcoming "redstone 4" branch, also known as "Spring Creators Update", and comes with a couple of new features. Also, the release includes bug fixes and minor improvements.
Windows IoT Core is a version of Windows 10 that is optimized for smaller devices with or without a display that run on both ARM and x86/x64 devices. It is the OS that enables building low cost, small footprint devices that support Universal Apps. Windows 10 IoT offers two editions - Windows 10 IoT Core and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise - that allow the flexibility in choosing the right specifications for the devices that you want to build, whether they're headless, ARM-based devices or powerful, Win32-driven devices.
Minimum hardware requirements for the OS look as follows:
- 86/x64 processor/SoC:
- 400 MHz or faster.
- Compatible with the x86 or x64 instruction set.
- Supports PAE, NX and SSE2.
- Supports CMPXCHG16b, LAHF/SAHF, and PrefetchW for 64-bit OS installation
- ARM SoCs:
- Compatible with the ARMv7 instruction set
The new build of Windows IoT feature the following changes.

Known issues:
- F5 driver deployment from Visual Studio does not work on IoT Core.
- Hummingboard fails to boot when installing builds to eMMC.
- Unable to deploy Node.js sample in 64-bit.
