Last week at Microsoft's Inspire worldwide partner conference, the company introduced Microsoft 365, a subscription bundle that includes Office 365 Business Premium and Windows 10 Business, both sold as a subscription along with enterprise mobility, security and management controls.
Windows 10 Business is essentially Windows 10 Pro along with some extra features like Windows Defender Security Controls, Windows AutoPilot, and hooks for Automatic Office apps deployment.
In addition to this announcement, the Redmond giant explained their vision of Windows 10 S and its place in the market. While its primary goal is to be the OS suitable for education and as a Chromebook-substitute, Windows 10 S is also good for business, officials said because of its locked down secure environment.
Windows 10 S is a special edition which is limited to running Store apps only. According to Microsoft, this restriction improves the security and performance of the OS. It can be upgraded to Windows 10 Pro for free this year. Starting next year, the upgrade from Windows 10 S to Windows 10 Pro will cost $49 for non-education users. Windows 10 S looks more like a successor to Windows RT, and will come pre-installed on cheap devices.
