Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.5794 (KB5055612) to the Release Preview Channel. This update is now available for Insiders running Windows 10, version 22H2, bringing a few fixes and improvements designed to enhance both performance and security.

Graphics Improvements

Fixed: Previously, the check for GPU paravirtualization in Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL2) was case-sensitive. This could potentially lead to failures in GPU paravirtualization support. With this update, the issue has been resolved, ensuring smoother and more reliable GPU functionality within WSL2 environments.

This fix is particularly important for developers and power users who rely on WSL2 for running Linux workloads with GPU acceleration.

Enhanced OS Security

Fixed: Microsoft has updated the Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist (DriverSiPolicy.p7b) to include new entries. These additions block drivers that have known security vulnerabilities and have been exploited in Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attacks.

BYOVD attacks are a growing concern in cybersecurity, where malicious actors exploit legitimate but vulnerable drivers to gain unauthorized access to systems. By expanding the blocklist, Microsoft is taking proactive steps to protect users from these sophisticated threats, reinforcing the security of the Windows operating system.

If you’re an Insider on the Release Preview Channel and running Windows 10, version 22H2, this update will be available to you automatically. Simply check for updates via Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and download the latest build.
