Windows 10 build 10135 comes with desktop Skype preinstalled

Windows 10 build 10135 features several notable changes from previous builds of Windows 10. Unlike any other build, this one comes with the desktop version of Skype preinstalled. The user does not need to download Skype any more.

For all Skype users, this is just convenient. However, the bundled version is not a fully working app, it is a web installer which downloads the full version. This is not a big deal though because you need to perform just one click to obtain it. This can save you time.

What do you think about this change? Should Microsoft bundle the full version of Skype with Windows 10 so you have it preinstalled and ready-to-use out-of-the-box or you think a web installer is a good idea?

  1. The first thing I thought after reading the title and looking at flash of the first picture was that MS added a sidebar to Windows 10 :D.

  2. They are only doing this as a stopgap until the new app that replaces both Win32 Skype and old WinRT Skype is ready and available.
