The first feature update to Windows 10 in 2021 is getting closer, and Microsoft is shedding more light on details about this update. Usually, noticeable updates bring some changes to hardware requirements, but this is not the case with Windows 10 21H1. Microsoft has published a post on the Tech Community forum where it notified users that the next major update to Windows 10 brings zero changes to hardware requirements.
These requirements are known as WHCP or Windows Hardware Compatibility Program. The program provides guidelines that help companies create hardware and software fully compatible with Windows 10 and Windows Server. You can read more about WHCP in the official documentation from Microsoft.

Windows 10 21H1 will have the same hardware requirements as Windows 10 20H2. This announcement makes sense because Windows 10 21H1 is just a slightly more significant update than a regular cumulative update. You will find some visible improvements and new features, but overall you can describe the Windows 10 21H1 update as quite a small one. As for Windows 10 21H2, this release will be more significant. It is rumored to bring major UI changes to Windows as a part of a global UI redesign called “Sun Valley.”
Although we already know that Windows 10 21H1 will bring no changes to hardware requirements, Microsoft is yet to announce when it will release the update. Windows 10 21H1 will be available to users this Spring with build 19043. It currently goes through testing in the Windows Insider program.
Windows 10 version 21H1 will be distributed to consumers in March or April 2021 with KB4598291. it will eventually appear as an optional update for Windows 10 2004 and Windows 10 20H2. As you may have already guessed, it is an enablement package that turns the mentioned versions into Build 19043.
