Window 11 is getting a colorful battery indicator, here is how to enable it

Windows 11's battery icon is receiving visual updates across the system tray, quick settings, and the Settings app. Notably, it will turn orange when energy saver is enabled and green when charging. Additionally, labels for the icons in the battery usage graph (bottom right) have been backported from the Canary build. This update is being rolled out quietly. But with help of ViveTool, you can enable them right now.

The changes can be found in the latest Windows 11 Insider Build 26120.2510 for the Dev channel. In the current stable Windows 11 version, the indicator is black and white. A lightning bolt appears when charging is connected, and a leaf icon is shown when power saving mode is activated. The revamped device battery indicator in the system tray  comes with the following key changes.

  • Increased Indicator: Offers more pixels for a more accurate display of the battery charge level.
  • Charging State: When plugged in, the indicator turns green and includes a lightning bolt icon.
