Today, I have released Winaero Tweaker 0.6. The application got several new features and improvements. Let's see these changes in detail.
First of all, you will be happy to know that Winaero Tweaker got an installer (and uninstaller). People were asking for it for a long time. So now, Winaero Tweaker can be installed and removed easily:
Update: here is the portable setup mode:
Update 2: Winaero Tweaker 0.6.0.1 is out.
This is a maintenance release:
- fixed a bug with Alt+Tab appearance (thumbnails were not scaled properly);
- updated feature descriptions;
- updated the installer for Windows 7 which was trying to extract files created for Windows 8.
I fixed a minor bug with "I'll do it myself later" button. Sometimes it continued to ask for the required action.
Another change is to the request to "Restart Explorer". I removed the additional "Apply" button from some pages and implemented this button instead to save your time and make the user interface more consistent.

Taskbar Button Flash Count
When some application in Windows 10, which is not running from the tray, requires action from you, or wishes to notify you, its taskbar button flashes to seek your attention. By default, the taskbar button for such an app flashes 7 times. This option will allow you to change this value to reduce the number of times it flashes or make it flash until you click on it.
This new option will allow you to tweak the Alt+Tab dialog in Windows 10, Windows 8 and Windows 7.
In Windows 10, you can play with Alt+Tab transparency, hide opened windows or dim the Desktop when you open Alt+Tab.
You can also enable the classic Alt+Tab user interface in all supported Windows versions.
Finally, a new section, "Tools", offer you something special.
Using this option, you will be to create a shortcut which runs an application you selected elevated, but without the UAC prompt. It is really useful. I have not used the code of my "Elevated Shortcut" app. Instead I created it from scratch. It will work in any Windows version and is stable and fast.
Reset Icon Cache
If icons in your Windows 10 File Explorer look strange or broken, your icon cache might have become corrupt. This issue is very common for all Windows versions. This option will allow you to repair it with just one click in Windows 10, Windows 8 and Windows 7.
That's it. Feel free to report any bugs you find and make your own suggestions. You can download Winaero Tweaker here:
