I just released a new version of my Winaero Tweaker app. As usual, it comes with bugfixes and new features.
To be honest, I wasn't planning a release so soon after the earlier one, but the previous version, 0.6.0.2, reportedly has a bug in the option to disable driver updates. I quickly fixed it and now you can take advantage of that option to disable forced driver updates. Thanks to the user, "Bob" for this bug report.
To make the release more valuable, I added a couple of new features to Winaero Tweaker 0.6.0.3 for Windows 10 users.
Now you can disable Cortana in Windows 10 version 1607 "Anniversary Update". As you may already know, the built-in ability to disable Cortana was removed by Microsoft in the RTM build. Winaero Tweaker adds it back:
Another added option allows stopping auto-update or auto-download of Store apps. By default, Windows Store in Windows 10 is set to download updates to installed and provisioned apps. The Store app also automatically downloads some promoted apps even if the setting we covered earlier to "Turn off consumer experiences" is enabled. This is not acceptable.
That's it. Feel free to report any bugs you find and make your own suggestions.

Thank you so much, Sergey !
You are welcome.
Is disabling Cortana via registry (the method you are using, correct?) any different than disabling Cortana via Group Policy?
No difference. Posted the Reg way for users without the GP editor to save their reading time.
Sounds like you’re going to have to remove features from Tweaker eventually, such as the ability to disable the Lock screen, once the Anniversary update comes out (if that other article about certain policy settings being removed is anything to go by).
I will not remove them.
I will also “Lock” them to Enterprise/Education/Server editions. That’s it.
Thank you for this update! Removing Cortana feature was essential for me.
I would like to suggest a feature – is it possible to make installer remember the Winaero Tweaker Installation location? In order to update it, user has to search for it previous location (if it is not default Program Files) manually.
Thank you!
NP I will do for both portable and regular modes.
Thank you again for this brilliant software; it really makes life so easier having all this tweaks under one same hood ! :-)
Если реализуете “export & import user’s settings (to xml or ini file)”, тогда вообще здорово было бы
Where can we download the portable version 0.6.0.3? The current link only provides the installer version.
Thanks!
The installer has the “Portable” mode, which is just extracts files without extra data.
Thanks for this info Sergey! :) (you might want to mention this on the download page)
I am going to release the next version very soon. So, will include in the change log.
please, add to tweaker: export & import user’s settings (to xml or ini file).
I am working
Right after setup extracts the files, (I chose portable mode) it would be removed because Windows 10 recognizes it as a malware.
The application is clean. It is false positive.
Thanks for the report.
Bug Report: On Windows 7, with release 0.6.0.3, I am still getting a message of “unhandled exception… the parameter is incorrect” if I select “Open Last Active Window in Group”. Acts the same whether I install “normally” or run “standalone” from a directory somewhere. However, on my Windows 10 system, this feature works fine.
Much much thanks for a terrific app.
Hi.
I have fixed the bug immediately after you reported the bug on July, 28 here: https://winaero.com/blog/winaero-tweaker-faq/
Have you tried to re-download the app as I suggested?
In any case, I am releasing version 0.6.0.4 right now.
You can just wait a couple of minutes.
Thank you, Sergey. I installed 6.0.4 and it worked. Great job!
You are welcome.
When using the XMouse option, it works fine for a while but then windows are raised even when the option is turned off. Is this a bug?
Have you tried to restart the OS after disabling the option?
