Here is a new release of Winaero Tweaker. This release focuses on new options for the Aero Snap feature and some bug fixes. Let's see what those are.
I noticed the following issues:
- The reset button was not working properly for the following options:
Advanced Appearance - Menus
Advanced Appearance - Messagebox
Advanced Appearance - Status bar
Advanced Appearance - Title bar - The Title bar font option was not changing the appearance of the small title bar (also know as "tool window").
I fixed the issues mentioned above and implemented a new option which allows you to customize Aero Snap behavior.
As you might be knowing, in Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10, you can only turn on or turn off Aero Snap completely. However, under the hood, there is an ability to customize its behavior by disabling individual snapping options!
With this new version of Winaero Tweaker, you will be able to:
- Disable vertical maximizing of windows.
- Disable snapping, but keep all other Aero Snap features on.
- Disable dragging of maximized windows.
That's it. I hope you enjoy the new version of Winaero Tweaker. Feel free to report any bugs you find and make your own suggestions. You can download Winaero Tweaker here:

Thanks Sergey! Much appreciated!
I enjoyed it already with Windows 8.1.1, but, now with Windows 10, it has simply become a “must have” !
Again, thanks a lot, Sergey, for this outstanding tool … :-) (well deserved donation made back in 04/2015)
Thank you very much for your kind words and support.
I have a problem : while there is no problem with the 2 first individual options, the “Disable snapping only” option doesn’t remain ticked. Once you go to another feature in WT and come back, this option is unticked again …
Very strange. I will look if it is a bug or something.
Could you reproduce the issue on your side as well ?
Just curious … ;-)
Thanks !
Reproduced. The fix is ready. Preparing for the new release.
Thank you, Sergey … you’re just and simply one of the few “Best” ….. ;-)
thank you very much my friend.
Its not support what using a HiDPI setting ! if i use that it will mess up my Scale Ratio, Icon Desktop Spacing when try to change Scrollbar size, Icon font or titlebar font (both win 10 or 8.1) !
Even if using the colored title bar option in w10, inactive windows have a white title bar.
This is by design. I cannot change it.
Thanks to Microsoft.
Oh ;(
Also since I formatted and reinstalled w10, I cant slide the lock screen with the ESC key (Or any key) like I did before. Now i have to click with the mouse. Is this a change in a recent update?
I noticed the same thing with the latest Win10 update (build 10586). I ended up turning the stupid lock screen off (see http://www.lаptоpmag.соm/аrtiсles/disаblе-lосk-scrееn-windоws-10) – now it locks like Win7 and I don’t need to press anything before typing my password.

The program stops responding whenever I click Apply Changes after I change the font for the items under “Advanced Appearance Settings”. What to do?
First of all, thanks for this great tool! I was reluctant at first but it really is a great way to make windows 10 usable!
However, I do notice, like others have mentioned, that any changes made to items under the ‘Advanced Appearance Settings’ do not seem to be recognized by the program, and it then freezes and crashes.
I would very much like to help you fix this and will provide as much info as you need (manufacturer, windows build version, etc.) Just shoot me an email!
Again thanks for this great piece of software! Keep up the great work bro!
I’m having trouble getting the title bar size and menu size to save between logouts. It keeps bumping them back up, instead of keeping them at the minimum for the font size where I like them.
I notice someone else saying there were problems with HiDPI, and I am using it at 120 dpi. Could that be a factor?
Forgot to mention that I’m on Windows 10 64-bit (not Pro).
quite possible.
a chance to see compatible with 1511 Windows version? the new option of windows 10 is really sucks, and your app is the best!
Nothing prevents Winaero Tweaker to run in 1511. Should not give any issue.
at home with the 1511 and winaero 0.3.2.2 or earlier, the addition of color or the color of the title bar change does not work :(, I reinstall 2 x windows and it still does not
Ah, that feature! I will fix it.
yes ! thank you very much !!! :)
On my system, it constantly hangs every time I tell it to apply a change. Sometimes the change goes through anyways, sometimes it doesn’t. Right now, it’s hanging on changing the menu height, which it seems to not want to actually change.
The good news is that settings that do change are sticking now, unlike my complaint before.
(I have to have my menu font be at 13 pt so that the text for the Ribbon is around 10 pt. But then the menu height needs to be reduced so menus don’t take up the entire screen. Windows 10 really f-ed up on DPI settings.)
I still can’t find how to defeat this annoying behavior.
feature request: Taskbar Thumbnail Delay Time
I like to speed up the time it takes for the taskbar to react when I hover over it. There are ways to do this, but they all require manually editing the registry, which I don’t like to do because I forget what I did and what the default value should be – in other words, perfect for a tool like WinAero Tweaker. Please, please?
I also wonder if you’d consider integrating your Alt-Tab Tuner into WinAero Tweaker, or is that too much trouble?
Hi Greg.
Please look at Taskbar Thumbnails Tuner
Taskbar Thumbnail Tuner allows you to modify several settings of taskbar thumbnails in Windows 7 and Windows 8. You can adjust margins, size of thumbnails, fade in delay as well as some other options what inaccessible through default Windows settings. You can even disable thumbnails.

Sure, I will merge Taskbar Thumbnails Tuner and Alt+Tab Tuner with Winaero Tweaker.
Hi, and thanks for this great tool.
In XMouse Options, if I enable window tracking, it works for a while (hour or two), but then reverts to the usual Windows behavior. I can go back into Winaero Tweaker and enable window tracking again, but again, it only works for a few hours…
I’m running Windows 7 Pro, on a Thinkpad
???
Thanks,
Andrew
This is very strange.
I will look why it can have such behavior.
I think I have solved the issue. My Thinkpad has Lenovo Mouse Suite installed. This package also has a “XMouse” option, but without the option to disable window raising. Lenovo Mouse Suite installs a service called “Session Launcher Service” (PelService), which seems to wake up periodically and refresh the mouse settings. I configured this service to start manually instead of automatically, and now your Winaero tool has full control of the XMouse behavior. Uninstalling Lenovo Mouse Suite would also have solved the issue, of course…
Cheers,
Andrew
Did you notice that your tweakbit link points to a page spoofing Microsoft’s own page? It’s a replica of a typical Microsoft hotfix page. This seems really sketchy.
Ohh?
It shows different pages from time to time.
I just updated my PC to the latest version of windows 10 today, but my shortcut arrows on desktop icons have come back. I had previously removed them using your great winaero tweaker program but cant seem to get it to run any more. is there a compatibility problem with the latest update ? I downloaded winaero but cant seem to get it to open….any ideas ? Thanks.
Hmm, it is very strange.
No single error message?
Thanks for your quick response.
no, there is no error message. I have tried running the program as administrator and I’m getting nothing as well. Worked fine until today when I updated windows 10….I have been running it for months now.
This is VERY strange. Which build you are running now? 10586.29?
