A few days ago, Microsoft started rolling out a minor update to its Office apps suite for Android devices, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Users of these apps can now use SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) images in their documents and presentations. This new build is similar to the one that was released two weeks ago for Office Insider Program members and includes all of the latest changes from it.
The recently posted change log on the official Office Insider program for Android page on Google+ only mentioned the addition of SVG support, but considering all of the changes that were announced when Insider builds rolled out, the full change log should look like this:
- Use SVG images in Word, Excel and PowerPoint: Insert and edit scalable vector graphic (SVG) images in your document to create sharp, well-designed content. No expert software required.
- Open more files in Excel: Now you can open files that contain form controls.
- Multi-Window Support for Word and Excel: You can now have multiple apps share your screen at the same time with Android 7.0 Nougat. For example on hand-held devices, two apps can run side-by-side or one-above-the-other in split screen mode.
The version numbers for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are 16.0.7668.4775, 16.0.7668.5029, and 16.0.7668.4273 respectively which is a slight bump from the original Office Insider version. But all of the features announced earlier are included in this release.
If your suite of apps hasn't updated yet automatically, be sure to check for updates on the Google Play pages of each app:
