Microsoft has announced that the next Windows 11 LTSC releases, including Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC and Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC, will become available in the second half of 2024. This extended timeline should help organizations plan and prepare for the adoption of Windows 11. Further details regarding the releases will be provided closer to the availability date.
In the meantime, Microsoft recommends that those waiting for a Windows 11 LTSC release should start testing their applications and hardware on the current GA channel release, which is Windows 11, version 22H2.
So, organizations will be able to get the following editions:
- Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC
- Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC
Windows 10 Lifecycle and support
Microsoft has also announced that Windows 10 version 22H2 will be the final version, with support until October 14, 2025, but no new feature updates. To continue receiving security updates until the end of the OS lifecycle, Microsoft urges all users to upgrade to Windows 10 22H2.
The LTSC editions of Windows 10 will continue to receive updates depending on their individual life cycles. Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 (21H2) will be supported for five years until 2026. In contrast, the support for Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 IoT (21H2) will end only in 2031.
