The Beta channel has received Windows 11 Builds 22621.1250 and 22623.1250

Microsoft has released new preview builds of Windows 11, version 22H2, to Insiders in the Beta channel. They come with KB5023008; Build  22623.1250  includes new features, while Build 22621.1250  has new features disabled by default.

Changes and improvements in both builds

  • Search on the taskbar:
    • Added a new policy for IT administrators to control the display of the search box in the taskbar on computers in the organization. Detailed information can be found at this link.

Fixes in build 22623.1250

  • Task Manager:
    • You can now enter the letter F again in the search field.
    • Fixed an issue resulting in Narrator not reading some text in dialog boxes.
    • Window dragging in the search field area should now work (as it does in other areas of the title bar).
    • If you search and then press the down arrow, the keyboard focus will now move to the search results.
    • Fixed an issue where the confirmation dialog was not displayed when ending processes in the Details tab.
    • Zooming in on text should no longer result in a "View More" button without any content.
    • Fixed an issue where the keyboard focus could not be correctly set to the search box, causing Narrator to not announce that the focus was on the search box.
    • If you have the contrast theme enabled and you have selected one of the rows on the Processes page, that row should now appear highlighted.
  • Search on the taskbar:
    • Fixed an issue where the search field would sometimes unexpectedly disappear when you clicked on it, leaving a blank space on the taskbar.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the search field to move slightly to the side when clicking on it.
    • If the taskbar is set to auto-hide, pressing the Windows key and starting to type text will no longer hide the taskbar unexpectedly.
