Microsoft has extended the support time frame for Windows 10 version 1709. The operating system will continue to receive security updates until October 13, 2020, but they will be released only for enterprise and education customers.

Mainstream support for Windows 10 version 1709 has ended
The initial version of Windows version 1709 'Fall Creators Update' was released on October 17, 2017. Since then, Microsoft has released a few feature updates for the Windows 10 OS family, including version 1803 and version 1809; and subsequently a bunch of cumulative updates, including security fixes and stability improvements. Today, Windows version 1709 has exited mainstream support.
Windows 10 Fall Creators Update RTM is Build 16299
Today, we got confirmation that build 16299 is the RTM (final) version of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. The build 16299 has been released by Microsoft to Slow Ring Insiders and is now available on the Fast ring. This could be proof that Windows 10 build 16299 is the RTM build.
Fall Creators Update is Windows 10 version 1709
As you may already know, the next major update to Windows 10, code named "Redstone 3", recently got its official name. Microsoft revealed that it will be called "Fall Creators Update". Now, it appears that Microsoft has referenced the version number for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update in related documentation.
