We wondered some time ago and concluded that Microsoft might kill the Control Panel completely with future updates to Windows. Today, it became official. Microsoft wants you to learn the new Settings app and forget about other PC management tools.

Themes and Personalization have made a return in Windows 10 build 10547

It is a bit surprising but the good old Themes and Personalization Control Panels have returned in Windows 10 build 10547. Microsoft removed all classic personalization options from the Control Panel in Windows 10, and it was released to end users without these options present. However, with build 10547, the situation has changed.

Add a custom color for taskbar to Windows 10 Settings app

Windows 10 allows you to define a custom color, which will be added to Settings -> Personalization -> Colors page of the Settings app. That color can be applied to the taskbar, Start menu and Notification Center. The user can define his own color using a simple Registry tweak.

Add classic personalization menu in Windows 10 build 10074

As you may already know, Microsoft ditched the classic appearance (personalization) and themes UI in Windows 10 because some of those settings are moving to the Settings Modern app. If you prefer the good old classic Personalization options, I would like to show you how to add a cascading menu for the Desktop. All items on this menu will open the classic appearance options.
