Just recently Microsoft the ability to record a video from the screen to the inbox Snipping Tool app. It now allows to pause the video screen recording on pause, and brings with it a bit updated color dialog. The changes are coming with Snipping Tool 11.2212.24.0. If you start a new video capture, you will notice a pause button next to the stop red box.
Also, the user interface of the app has got a few more refinements. First of all, the main toolbar buttons no longer have text labels for the screenshot and video buttons.
Earlier, they used to say "Snip" and "Record".
Also, the built-in color dialog for the screenshot border lost its advanced options. There's no more manual color input; only the trackbar and visual color selection area are available.
Here's how it used to look.
Microsoft added the ability to record videos to the Snipping Tool earlier in December 2022. Similar the screen area screenshot, the app allows you to specify a rectangle to capture, and record what is happening inside it to a file. Once you finish you recording, you can easily share the result with your friends and colleagues using the built-in options in the app.
The addition of the recording pause was one of the most requested options. It's great to see that Microsoft is listening to user feedback on the app. The Snipping Tool is very popular among Windows users as it works well and is available out of the box.

In the settings dialog. There is an option to set a delay in milliseconds before capturing.
Hi, Do you know of a way to press the pause button without moving the mouse? I’m moving my mouse off the capture screen to do it then you see the mouse come back after – would be great if there was a remote way to pause but I can’t seem to find it in my searches so far. Thanks!
