Some time ago, Microsoft released Skype Insider Preview v8.41.76.55 with support for calls in groups of up to 50! Today the change reached the stable branch of Skype for Desktop.
The new Skype for Desktop app has a very streamlined user interface. It follows the modern trend of flat minimalist design with glyph icons and no borders anywhere. This design is being used in all other Microsoft products.
Version 14.41.55.0 of Skype for Desktop features the following changes:
We are excited to announce two big changes to group calling in Skype. Before now, Skype only supported calls in groups up to 25 participants - but today we are supporting calls in groups of up to 50! When you start a call in these large groups, it will send a notification instead of ringing all the members, to not interrupt those who can't join. With this update you will also see that the audio and video buttons are now enabled in these larger groups.
In addition, there is a new notification feature added to all group video calls. It makes ringing completely optional. When you start a video call in a small group, Skype will send a notification to that group, but if you still want to ring, you will be given the option once the call has begun.
Also, there is a new Email Notifications feature the Skype settings. Skype includes the option to send email notifications about missed calls and messages. The new options can be found under the Notifications section of Settings. They are enabled by default. If you are not happy to receive an email for every missed call or messages, you can to turn them off.
