New tools are coming to the PowerToys suite. First of all, it will be easier to create a backup copy of its options with the "Settings backup and restore" utility. The other tool will allow you to make changes to the hosts file with a convenient UI.
Settings backup and restore
Settings backup will be a useful addition to the PowerToys bundle. With a couple of clicks, you will be able to export all your preferences to a folder. Later on this PC, you can restore them. Or you can transfer the backup data to a different device and restore them there.
As stated on GitHub, more to come to this tool. It will be able to export PowerToys option on schedule.
Hosts File Editor in PowerToys
The traditional way to change the hosts file is to use Notepad. You have to start it as Administrator and carefully add or remove entries manually.
Microsoft is about to simplify this process and make it more convenient. The new dedicated "toy" will allow you to add new entries with ease. Besides, it can re-arrange them in the hosts file, includes filters for faster search, and more.
With a couple clicks you can disable an entry, or ping its address. Finally, it supports adding comments to entries from within the UI.
Microsoft didn't specify the date when the novelties will reach a Preview or Stable release of PowerToys, but it should not take long.
You can download actual versions of PowerToys from the Microsoft Store or GitHub.
