While I wrote recently that Windows 10 build 10041 is similar to 10036 which was leaked several days ago, there is a minor change in the Settings app. It appears that in Windows 10 Microsoft will allow you to pin your frequently used settings/pages of the Settings app to the Start menu. To learn how it works, follow this simple tutorial.
Pin Settings to the Start Menu in Windows 10
It is possible to pin any settings page from the Settings app to the Start menu. Do the following:
- Open the Start menu and click the Settings item:
- The Settings app will appear on the screen.
Open any setting you want to pin, for example, let it be the "System -> Display" page:
- At the top of the page, near the search box, you will find the Pin icon. Click it to pin Display to the Start menu:
The icon will be changed, and a new icon will appear in the Start menu:
- Repeat the step above for all settings you want to pin to the Start screen.
That's it. To Unpin pinned settings, you have two options:
- Right click the pinned item in the Start menu and choose "Unpin from Start":
- Alternatively, you can click the icon in the Settings app to unpin the current page from the Start menu:
You are done.
