Phil Spencer has leaked a photo of Xbox ‘Keystone’ streaming device

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox in Microsoft, has published on Twitter a new photo with a brand new device under the Xbox brand. It is a box for streaming games through the Xbox Cloud Gaming service. The company was talking about it last year. The device is also known under the code name Xbox Keystone.

Unlike you could expect, Microsoft is not creating a Google Chromecast-like TV adapter. It is more like a set-top box that reminds of Xbox Series S. The device is still a work-in-progress, and the Xbox team do their best to release it on market.

So with Xbox "Keystone" you can use Xbox Cloud Streaming with any TV or display. The combination of the hardware and software can replace the Xbox console. As you could expect, it will be capable to run apps that utilize cloud content. For example, it supports Netflix. In the photo below, it is on the top shelf. The original tweet is here.

Besides, Microsoft recently released the Xbox TV app for Samsung smart TVs and monitors (2022 models), which allows you to play games using the Xbox Cloud Gaming service and supports streaming at 1080p at 60 FPS.  The new device will be an option for those who owns a classic TV or a simple monitor.

Microsoft might tell more about the new device during the upcoming Surface Event, that will happen on October, 12.
