Patch Tuesday: Updates for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1

Besides the updates for all versions of Windows 10, the Redmond software giant today released a number of updates for the previous versions of the OS. The appropriate update packages are now available for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, and Windows Server 2012 R2.

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

For Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 users, KB4054518 is out with the following change log.

  • Addresses issue where users of SQL Server Reporting Services may not be able to use the scrollbar in a drop-down list.
  • Addresses additional issues with updated time zone information.
  • Security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine and Windows Server.

Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2

Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 users will get the December Monthly Rollup, KB4054519. The change log looks as follows:

  • Addresses issue where users of SQL Server Reporting Services may not be able to use the scrollbar in a drop-down list.
  • Addresses additional issues with updated time zone information.
  • Security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine and Windows Server.

Finally, the update package KB4054520 is applicable to the original version of Windows Server 2012. It comes with the following fixes.

  • Addresses additional issues with updated time zone information.
  • Security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine and Windows Server

Besides these cumulative updates, there are a number of security-only updates released:

  • KB4054521 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
  • KB4054522 for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2
  • KB4054523 for Windows Server 2012

There are no known issues in these updates.
