Microsoft has recently rolled out a new Office Mobile build for Insiders on Android, introducing some new features for the users of Office Mobile apps. The said build had version 16.0.7531.1011 and was tested by Insiders for more than two weeks. But a couple of days ago, Microsoft pushed a new Office for Android update for non-Insiders, bringing all of the new features to regular users. The new update has version 16.0.7531.1002 and introduces features like Maps in Excel, Box cloud service integration and more.
The official change log for the update states the following:
Word for Android
- Accessibility built right in: Improved support for using TalkBack, your keyboard, and other assistive technologies.
- Use Box, Egnyte, or 腾讯微云 to store and access your Office files.
- Get a notification when there’s activity in your shared document.
Excel for Android
- Accessibility built right in: Improved support for using TalkBack, your keyboard, and other assistive technologies
- Maps: The new Maps chart type transforms geographic data into professional looking maps
- Use Box, Egnyte, or 腾讯微云 to store and access your Office files
- Open files that contain ActiveX controls, or web or text queries
- Get a notification when there’s activity in your shared workbooks
PowerPoint for Android

- Use Box, Egnyte, or 腾讯微云 to store and access your Office files.
- Get a notification when there’s activity in your shared presentation.
Most of the new features were announced back in September during the Ignite 2016 conference. This update is considered to be the November update as Microsoft tries to keep the monthly schedule for Office updates. This also means that new Insider builds are just a few weeks away and will be rolled out before the middle of the next month.
