Microsoft is working on the new design for Windows 10X under the name Sun Valley. These changes will gradually be integrated into all versions of Windows 10. One of the changes are the rounder corners of windows, buttons, and tiles.
The new UI is built with with the WinUI framework, where most elements are getting more rounded. We have already seen these changes in the Alarm and clock app. The following screenshots, courtesy of Zac Bowden, demonstrate the new Start menu and jump lists. Notice a gap between the start menu/jump list flyout and the taskbar, and the shape of the flyout.
Both screenshots are from a preview version. It is not a final look, since it is still a work-in-progress.
The major 'Sun Valley' UI change, is probably what most people are looking forward to in Windows 10, considering the operating system's entire lifecycle so far. It is expected to become available in the second half of 2021, and it should revive the desktop OS with impressive changes.
Sun Valley will refresh the appearance of Windows 10 user interface. This will include rounding off corners on buttons, app windows, and shell elements such as the Start menu, Action Center, File Explorer and its dialogs. These should look more consistent with modern UI parts and create a simpler and effective user interface that matches today's workflows.
