Microsoft Works to Improve Windows 11’s Slow Performance

Since the launch of Windows 11 in October 2021, users have consistently reported performance-related issues, particularly on hardware with hybrid processor architectures. Many have observed minimal improvements in system responsiveness and gaming performance compared to Windows 10. Others note that the new OS is sluggish in everyday use.

In response, Microsoft has issued a number of updates to improve the situation. However, the Redmond firm now takes a more serious approach. The latest Insider builds for the Dev and Beta channels now include an advanced telemetry mechanism designed to capture detailed performance logs automatically when system slowdowns occur.

The company is actively encouraging participants to report instances of poor performance through the Feedback Hub under the category Desktop Environment > System Sluggishness. When users submit feedback in this category, the associated diagnostic logs. The OS stores those logs locally in %systemRoot%\Temp\DiagOutputDir\Whesvc. When submitting feedback, Windows will automatically attach and transmit them to Microsoft’s engineering teams.

This will allow developers to correlate user-reported experiences with real-time system data, and perform detailed analysis. The collected information may allow to get done critical optimizations in upcoming releases. Specially, they may become part of the anticipated Windows 11 25H2 update, scheduled for release in the fall.
