Microsoft has announced that Windows 11 version 22H2 will not receive optional non-security cumulative updates after February 27, 2024. These updates are typically released in the fourth week of the month.
Providing these previews allows enthusiasts and IT admins to test the latest cumulative update, identify potential major issues, and hopefully report them to Microsoft.
In a note added to the description of the latest Patch Tuesday release, Microsoft announced that it will no longer release additional non-security previews for Windows 11 version 22H2 as of February 27, 2024
IMPORTANT After February 27, 2024, there will no longer be optional, non-security preview releases for Windows 11, version 22H2. Only cumulative monthly security updates will continue for the supported editions of Windows 11, version 22H2.
Windows 11 version 22H2 will continue to receive monthly security updates as part of Patch Tuesday, which means computers running this OS will continue to be protected from current threats. Support for Windows 11 22H2 will continue until October 8, 2024.
Of course, Microsoft is interested in moving users to the latest version of Windows 11, which is 23H2. The Redmond software giant hopes that this will allow it to increase revenue from the sale of artificial intelligence services, which now plays a major role in the new OS. However, owners of the Windows 11 22H2 version continue using it without preview updates for about another year. Within this time frame, they should consider upgrading if they wish and continue to be aware of security issues.
