Microsoft announced that it will make a "big announcement" related to the Windows operating system tomorrow, October 16, 2025. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the company hinted at upcoming changes to the way users interact with computers. Further details are not yet available.
Your hands are about to get some PTO 👋
Time to rest those fingers…something big is coming Thursday 👀
— Windows (@Windows) October 14, 2025
This teaser is in line with recent statements from Microsoft management about their intention to make voice control a primary input method in Windows. For example, Windows division head Pavan Davuluri stated that soon "you'll be able to talk to your computer while writing or interacting with another person. The computer will be able to semantically understand your intentions."
David Weston, vice president of corporate security, echoed this sentiment: "The computer will be able to see what we see, hear what we hear, and we will be able to ask it to perform much more complex tasks."
I doubt Microsoft will unveil Windows 12 this Thursday. Instead, the company will likely showcase its vision for a future operating system that will integrate agent-based artificial intelligence and natural language capabilities.
