Microsoft has rolled out a new Office preview update to Insiders, featuring new tools for Word, OneNote, and PowerPoint that allow users to convert handwriting to typed text and edit text using gestures.
The new handwriting recognition and conversion tool enables users to input handwritten text into any text field. Originally introduced in Windows 11, this feature is now available in Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
In addition to text input, the tool also allows users to use gestures for editing their notes. This includes the ability to select, replace, and delete text, add new lines, split and merge words, and create bulleted or numbered lists. For those who frequently use the Surface Pen or other stylus, gesture controls can streamline document and presentation tasks.
These tools are accessible to all Microsoft 365 Insiders running Windows 11 version 23H2 on devices that support a digital pen or stylus. However, they do not yet support landscape page format and are limited to the English language. Additional languages are available with update KB5031455.
