Microsoft Teams will soon stop working on older versions of Windows 11 and 10

The Redmond software firm has issued a notification that reveals a change in the list of supported Windows versions by the Teams app. Windows 11 21H2, Windows 10 21H2 and anything older will soon not be able to run the software. Prior to that, Microsoft Teams will display a warning starting October 15.

Then, starting January 15, 2025, Microsoft Teams will stop working completely on Windows 11/10 version 21H2. LTSC versions of the OS will give their users more time, as the Teams app will continue to work until August 15, 2025.

If you won't upgrade the OS, you won't be able to use Teams on the legacy OSes.

The same applies to macOS users. Teams will only support macOS 13 or above, and refuse to work on anything older. Microsoft supports this OS as follows: When a new version of macOS is released, the new version and the two versions immediately preceding it become the supported versions by Teams.

If you won't upgrade the operating system, the option to use the official Teams client will be locked. If you cannot upgrade it for a reason but still need Teams, its web app may be a solution. It runs inside the web browser and doesn't require you anything to be installed. It works on all supported platforms, including Windows, Linux and macOS. However, keep in mind that the web client only supports last three versions of the browsers Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
