Microsoft has officially announced a change in the Edge Canary release schedule. The company will now release two builds on the same day. This will happen not every day, but occasionally. The first portion of such builds was released yesterday.
On September 29, the Canary channel first received build 107. 0.1406.0 in the early morning.
Later on the same day, the second build landed in the Canary channel 107. 0.1407.0.
Microsoft says shipping two builds per day will allow developers collect even more feedback and improve development. It should not bother users much, as new builds will be installed in the background. The user can continue using the currently installed version without restarting the browser as long as he needs.
The new schedule is only applicable to the Canary channel. The rest of the channels will remain intact. So the Dev channel will get updates once a week, and Beta and Stable will receive major updates every 4 weeks. Also, Microsoft noted that at some day the Canary channel may not receive a single update at all.
Finally, the Canary channel will get the updates more frequently only on Windows. As of this writing, there are no plans for Microsoft to use the similar release scheme on MacOS and Linux.
