Microsoft today announced that company's new Edge browser is coming to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring. This means that Microsoft Edge will appear in updates in Windows Update, and will be installed automatically.

Microsoft has released Edge Chromium on January 15, 2020. It is now available for download manually. Later, the app will be automatically pushed to Windows 10 users running Windows 10 April 2018 Update 'Redstone 4', and above. Microsoft is about to replace the classic Edge app (EdgeHTML) with the newest Chromium-based app of the same name. Enterprise and education users won't get the browser automatically. As the first step in this direction, Microsoft is now rolling out Microsoft Edge to Insiders in the Release Preview ring.

Edge Chromium, which retains major features of Chromium and Chrome, comes with exclusive additions and services provided by Microsoft. The default search system is Bing, there is Read AloudCollections, and different Privacy options, along with a reworked Settings user interface reminiscent of the classic Edge settings UI.

The stable version of Microsoft Edge Chromium is available to the public for a while. The browser has already received a few updates, with support for ARM64 devices in Edge Stable 80. Also, Microsoft Edge is still supporting a number of aging Windows versions, including Windows 7, which has recently reached its end of support. For pre-release versions, Microsoft is currently using three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The Canary channel receives updates daily (except Saturday and Sunday), the Dev channel is getting updates weekly, and the Beta channel is updated every 6 weeks. Microsoft is going to support Edge Chromium on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, alongside macOS, Linux (coming in the future) and mobile apps on iOS and Android.
