Microsoft renamed Your Phone to Phone Link, added new features and support for HONOR

Microsoft has renamed the Your Phone app to Phone Link. The appropriate announcement today appeared in the official blog. The apps now comes with the updated design that matches the style of Windows 11. It is enabled for all users by default.

The Your Phone app was introduced more than three years ago. The app aims to be the main way to connect an Android smartphone to Windows. It syncs notifications or calls between your devices, and allows browsing the phone gallery right from its UI. With recent updates, it also allows running some of the Android apps right on the Windows desktop.

Phone Link

The new version of the Your Phone app turns a new page in its history. Now called Phone Link, the app features a redesigned color scheme, updated controls, graphics, and icons.

Microsoft has also simplified the way you pair your smartphone with  Windows. It will now show a QR code that you can scan with the camera app on Android to connect the device with ease.

The notification pane is now always displayed in the sidebar on the left, while the Messages, Photos, Apps, and Calls sections can be accessed using the top navigation bar.

Your Phone Companion for Android has also been renamed to Link to Windows. The Windows and Android apps now share the same icon. In addition, Phone Link received support for Honor Magic V, Magic 4 and Magic 3. Those will have the app streaming capability , i.e. HONOR owners will be able to "run" Android apps on Windows 11. Earlier, it was an exclusive feature for Samsung and Microsoft's Surface phones.  Finally, the application itself is now available in China.
