Microsoft Raises Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Price, Launches Standard Plan

Microsoft  has announced big changes to its Xbox Game Pass service. In addition to the expected price increase for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the company is completely revising the no-cost subscription plan for consoles. In the coming months, it will be replaced by Xbox Game Pass Standard, which will not provide access to new games on release day.

So, the following changes has been invented.

  • New customers will not be able to sign up for Xbox Game Pass for Consoles starting July 10, 2024.
  • Existing Xbox Game Pass for console users will be able to maintain their current subscription plan with all the benefits, including access to new games on release day.
  • New users will be offered a new plan called Xbox Game Pass Standard , which is similar to EA Access. This subscription will include a catalog of older Xbox games and  will not provide access to new games on release day. The subscription includes Xbox Live Gold (recently renamed Game Pass Core) for multiplayer. Xbox Cloud Gaming is not included. The cost of the Standard plan will be $14.99 and is expected to launch in September.

Starting September 18, 2024, Microsoft will allow users to accumulate up to 13 months of Xbox Game Pass for consoles using prepaid cards, etc. If you have already accumulated more than 13 months, you will be able to use them in full.

The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription benefits won't change, but the price will increase. It still includes PC Game Pass, access to games from launch day , Xbox Cloud Gaming, and more. Starting September 12, the price will be $19.99.

The price of a PC Game Pass subscription will increase to $11.99 (was $9.99). PC Game Pass will continue to provide access to games from the day of release.

The price of an annual subscription to Xbox Game Pass Core (formerly Xbox Live Gold) will increase to $74.99 (was $59.99). A monthly subscription will still cost $9.99.

ℹ️ For recurring billing users, the new prices will go into effect on September 12, 2024. This means you'll have time to cancel your subscription if you don't like the changes.

Subscription prices are increasing worldwide, with the exception of some countries. The new prices for different regions can be found here.
