Microsoft promises to focus on performance improvements for Windows 11 in 2022

A major visual overhaul is one of the most noticeable changes in Windows 11, which is a bit ruined by numerous small bugs and annoyances. It does not take too long to spot rough surfaces in the new shiny UI: menus appear with delays and bugs, tooltips appear out of nowhere, and the overall responsiveness leaves much to be desired, even on more powerful computers.

The good thing is that Microsoft is not deaf to users' feedback. During an "ask me anything" session on Reddit, Microsoft spoke about slow and sometimes glitchy UI in Windows 11. The company says the updates for Windows 11 in 2022 will improve the performance and responsiveness of the user interface in the newest operating system from Microsoft.

Performance will be an area of focus for us in 2022. A lot of that focus will go into startup/launch perf; in terms of UI elements rendering on the screen (after the framework is loaded), we've tested the scalability of doing things like putting 10k buttons on the screen, etc. Most of the UI elements render pretty quickly already, but it would be good to understand if there are specific UI element scaling/slowness issues you're experiencing, and we could take a look into that specific scenario.

Of course, we know that when it comes to products from Microsoft, things can go sideways at any moment. Still, it is good to see developers setting specific priorities for the upcoming year and sharing those priorities with customers. Windows 11 might feel rushed for many, but Microsoft does not want to leave everything as is.

With Windows 10 and 11 moving to a single feature update per year, let us hope Microsoft will take enough time to polish the next release and deliver a high-quality update in 2022.
