Recently, Windows enthusiasts have spotted references to Windows 11 version 26H1 in Insider Builds. Well-known insider Phantomofearth did some research and discovered that Microsoft plans to launch a specialized version of Windows 11. Labeled 26H1, it will come exclusively to devices powered by the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 chips. This reminds of company’s earlier release of Windows 11 version 24H2, which initially rolled out only to Copilot+ PCs before expanding to all compatible systems as a standard feature update.

The primary objective of the 26H1 release is to deliver native support for the Snapdragon X2 platform. Described as an “interim solution,” this version will not constitute a full feature update. Nevertheless, it will introduce certain capabilities missing in both the 24H2 and 25H2 releases. Users of X2-based devices will gain early access to these new functionalities.
Subsequently, Microsoft is expected to merge all new features from the 26H1 update into its successor, Windows 11 version 26H2. That comprehensive annual feature update will become available to all compatible PCs in the second half of 2026. To date, the company has not issued any official statement regarding the 26H1 release. Keep in mind that these plan may change over time. The Redmond firm may cancel the 26H1 release, and go with 26H2. Also, there is a little chance that 26H1 may become available to broader range of devices.
